Summer Device Information

School's Almost Out For Summer: To Have Your Child Keep His/Her iPad/Chromebook Is the Question... THE CHOICE IS YOURS!

Last summer we changed our mobile device management system and therefore no longer need to touch every device. So, this year, we have no reason to collect every device. After reviewing and discussing all the ways our students could use their devices for learning over the summer (eBooks, reviewing materials and practice skills learned this year, further investigating academic interests, and exploring and creating projects based on personal interests along with some Brain Break time..of course), we have had discussions about allowing students to keep them over the summer. 1:1 iPads will continue to be used in grades 4-8 and 1:1 Chromebooks in 9-12. Please also note that the school devices will be coming home over the summer with apps that were installed while at school.
If you have completed the form found on the school website along with making the insurance payment by Friday, May 25th your child can take the iPad (this year's 4th-7th Grade Students) and Chromebooks (9th-11th Grade Students) home over the summer and bring it back the first day of school. The device will be ready on the first day of school if you opt out of taking it for the summer. 8th graders will be notified when their devices are ready to be picked up due to new devices being purchased and the time needed for the tech dept to assign each device (if forms and insurance payment are complete). Otherwise, it will be ready the first day of school. If you are bringing your own device, please make sure to mark this on the form! Seniors will be turning in their devices on check-out day. Thank you so much.
THERE WILL BE FOUR IMPORTANT ITEMS THAT NEED YOUR ATTENTION BEFORE YOUR CHILD WOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE HIS/ HER DEVICE OVER SUMMER:
1. All iPads/ Chromebooks would be inspected before summer to assess damage.
2. $40/$350 (refundable) Insurance and paperwork would need to be completed before the device is sent home and insurance would cover through the 2018-2019 school year. You will find the 1:1 Handbook Form Button and 1:1 Device Insurance Button on the homepage of the school website: www.bbejaguars.org
3. Your child should bring his/ her device ready to go and fully charged to start the new school year.
4. Continue to visit with your child about digital citizenship and appropriate use of the iPad/Chromebook.
IF A FAMILY IS UNABLE TO AFFORD THE INSURANCE, IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT THE BUILDING ADMINISTRATOR; Rick Gossen: 320-346-2278 Ext.1219

Congrats, Aiden!

BLOG POST! BBE Fundraising – Where’s Your Money Going

posted May 18, 2018, 8:55 AM by Cody Lenarz   [ updated May 22, 2018, 6:54 AM by Lucy Lloyd ]

Over the past few years, BBE Schools have discussed a better way of fundraising to support school activities and needs.  Last year. We decided to move forward with some pretty dramatic changes. We went from having many different fundraisers contributing to many different organizations to a condensed, more concentrated fundraising effort. We now have four major fundraisers that contribute to the BBE Schools: Softener Salt Distribution, the Community Fruit Drive, the Jaguar Golf Open, and the Color Fund Run. While this is pretty common knowledge, we wanted to offer some details into our fundraising efforts. Read the Full Story HERE.

BBE Schools/Reading Corps Looking for Two Good People

posted May 16, 2018, 12:22 PM by Lucy Lloyd

While students at BBE Elementary & Jaguar Kid Connection are ready for summer break, I’m thinking ahead to when they return to our classrooms. Our teachers do a fabulous job reaching every student, but can’t always provide the one-on-one support every child needs. Fortunately, our school partners with an early literacy program called Minnesota Reading Corps that helps our students get on track to be successful readers by the end of third grade. And I know that it works.

We’re looking for two people to join us for the 2018-19 school year, August-June.

Reading Corps tutors work with classroom teachers and target one-on-one daily practice to students in need of a boost in reading skills. They work on specific interventions such as letter identification, letter sounds, reading fluency and comprehension. Students are monitored weekly to check their growth over time.

As the principal of BBE Elementary I’ve seen the difference that Reading Corps makes for our kids. Children who struggle to read at an early age have a really hard time catching up to their peers and often fall behind in all subject areas if they don’t get the help they need. Reading Corps tutors give them the individualized instruction they need to succeed.

Tutors are AmeriCorps members who commit to serve the students and schools in their community. In return, they receive a modest living allowance and an education award to pay tuition or repay qualifying student loans. Tutors come from a variety of backgrounds – they are recent graduates, parents, retirees and veterans.

When our students return from break, I hope there’s two more people at our school to greet them – two Reading Corps tutors. I’d encourage anyone who is looking to make a meaningful difference to contact abby.fragodt@servetogrow.org to learn about joining at our school or others in the area.
